Exclamations of religious awe are in order. Legendary and long sought-after, this live ILed Zeppelin/I collection is nothing less than the rock music equivalent of the Holy Grail. Quite simply, this is what all the fuss was about. p p Given that they were the biggest band in the world, Zeppelin were notoriously camera-shy in their heyday. Their official filmic legacy until now has been just the fascinating but flawed IThe Song Remains the Same/I. While this new set presents some previously unseen footage from the same 1973 Madison Square Garden gigs, its real wonders lie in the earlier (1970) Royal Albert Hall footage and the later Earls Court (1975) and Knebworth (1979) concerts. Everything here looks and sounds new-minted, thanks to painstaking restoration and remastering of both audio and visual sources, a Herculean labor of love on the part of co-producer Dick Carruthers working hand-in-glove with Jimmy Page. Trawling through thousands of yards of previously unseen film and unheard tape recordings--some with missing visuals, some with missing audio--Page and Carruthers have chosen only the best possible footage available. They were also at pains to make the segments segue seamlessly so that the viewer is treated to what feels like a continuous concert--just sample the transition from a grainy Super 8 "Immigrant Song" (Sydney, 1972) to "Black Dog" at MSG. p p Highlights? It's not hyperbole to say that every powerhouse minute of this collection (some 230 minutes of concert footage plus another hour and a half of extra DVD material) is a rare musical and visual treat. But hearing Page's violin bow work on "Dazed and Confused" in DTS or Dolby 5.1 is an experience not soon forgotten. I--Mark Walker/I

4 out of 5 stars AWESOME!   December 26, 2008
from the most incredible version of stairway to heaven ever released to the acoustic going to california, this video rocks the whole led zeppelin world. the sound is amazing and i found no defect with this product. jimmy page is just plain incredible on guitar, robert plant rocks his heart out with the vocals, john paul jones backs up with bass and keyboard, and john bonham is just a beast on drums, i think only neil peart is better. great producing by page, zeppelin will live on for a long time thru all this rap and hip hop. i just wish they had put the song remains the same on this.

5 out of 5 stars A must for Zep fans   December 17, 2008
Oh my......the first set.....no words to describe it. This is a MUST buy for any and all Led Zeppelin fan young or old. This is the band at it's best.

5 out of 5 stars This is a testament as to why rock will live on forever! Zeppelin forever!   December 6, 2008
What can I say about this DVD that hasn't already been said? It's Led Zeppelin, live, loud and all-powerful, rocking us at the high level only they reached. The songs are all top notch, the performances are insane, and there's hours of footage that will never stop blowing your mind!br /I already knew that Led Zeppelin where masters at what they do, but this practically redefined their level of excellency for me! Hammer of the gods, indeed! When you hear the bludgeoning opening riff to "Immgrant Song", it's more like a giant, plugged-in sledgehammer!br /From their pounding, electric anthems to their amazing, mellower pieces, this DVD has it all, and shows Led Zeppelin performing at the top of their game, proving that whatever they do, they do it great. It shows their wide variety of styles that they blend together to make their own sound, and this DVD is a testament to one of rock's all-time greatest bands in their prime.br /Hope you all have lots of fun with this one! "Led Zeppelin" is one that will never get old, and I'd even say it beats out "The Song Remains The Same". So if you liked that one, watch out, because this one will rock you again! Long live the mighty rock leviathan that is Led Zeppelin! Thanks for the time, and peace.

5 out of 5 stars Simply, the greatest rock band ever!   November 15, 2008

I was one of the priviledged few to have seen Led Zeppelin live in New York City at the young age of 14. (I had the coolest dad). When everyone else was listening to the Bay City Rollers my room was literally wallpapered with Led Zeppelin posters, so much so that when I finally took them down (somehwere around age 26) the walls around the posters were yellow. I held a candlelight vigil for John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham for months after his death. I wrote letters to Swan Song begging them to convince them to go on. (I still have the replies from a lovely woman named Diane who worked there.) Anyway, you get the point. This DVD set (sans the Immigrant song in the beginning of the second DVD which is a little fuzzy) is perfect. If you are young and want to see what all the fuss was about buy this and you will know why they are truly the greatest. One of my favorite tracks from this set is Since I've Been Loving You. The bluesy sounds of the band paired with Robert Plant's orgasmic singing will blow you away. I saw snippets of their O2 London tribute concert from December of 2007 (God Bless You Tube) and I must say, even in their 60s they've still got it! I truly wish the band would release their choke hold of the NYC concerts and release them on DVD in their entirety (You can see snippets of them from the movie The Song Remains The Same.) That would be awesome. Buy this, you will not be disappointed.
