Album Description Since their formation in 1990, Opeth has risen to the forefront of the metal world; bringing many aspects of progressive Rock/Metal to a whole new audience by combining soft acoustic ambience with complex, melodic heavy guitars, perfectly concocted into a completely peerless sound. This 2 DVD set contains a captivating Opeth performance from the Camden Roundhouse, London in 2006. It shows the band in scintillating form playing a selection of classics from their illustrious career. The Roundhouse Tapes was filmed during the band's Ghost Reveries tour.

Excellent DVD! December 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this after getting my first 2 CD's by Opeth Watershed and Blackwater Park and definitely falling in Love with their music. Was not surprised on how great this is. Getting to hear their back catalog of music makes me want to get all their CD's which I have listened to the samples of on Amazon. All the songs arew amazing, sound and video also well done. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes this band!
Excellent, with only a few minor flaws December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is honestly the best mix of anything Opeth-related out there. Never before has Mendez's bass cut through the mix so well. I found myself noticing things he plays that I never noticed in studio recordings. The guitar tone is a bit sterile in comparison to the studio, but the mixing more than makes up for it. br /br /The setlist is incredible. Every album to date is represented with the exception of Deliverance, but My Arms Your Hearse and Blackwater Park both get two songs. In my mind, this DVD has the definitive versions of When, Demon of the Fall, Under the Weeping Moon, and especially The Night and the Silent Water. The combination of Per's added atmosphere, as well as Mikael's tremendous strides in the vocal department, added to the ferocity and precision of the whole band's live performance, couple to make these tracks in particular sound better than they ever have. I can't stress enough how powerful The Night and the Silent Water in particular is; you have to see/hear it to believe it.br /br /Now onto the few detractions. As some reviewers before have mentioned, there's a lot of cuts on this DVD. I only found it mildly annoying, but it was enough for me to notice. A bigger but related problem that I have with the editors is that there is almost NO love for my man Axe on the drums. It is obvious from the sound that he's nailing everything (and I do mean everything), but I'd still like to be visually reminded of it every once in a while. I did get the DVD and not the CD, after all.br /br /But don't let these minor qualms stop you. Chances are, if you're looking at buying this, you are or about to be a huge Opeth fan. Don't hesitate another second. Swedish progressive atmospheric folk melodic death metal never sounded so good.
superb quality.. November 24, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The audio and video on this DVD is stunning. I wish they'd release this in a Blu-Ray format.br /Great song list, better than the Lamentations DVD. The only complaint i have is that the camera shifting/editing is kinda fast (although not as bad as some other concert DVD's)...When editing companies going to stop this??? We want to see the bands and guitar players shred. Not see MTV-styled quick camera shifting.br /Like i said, its not as bad as some others though and this is still excellent. Highly recommended! So much better than most music out there.
Finally, This great bands dvd surfaces November 13, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is an amazing DVD worth getting by all means. First off I'll get the only bad thing about this out of the way so the I can get to all the greatness. Besides the show there aren't a lot of extra bonus features. Some band/fan interviews and galleries. But that's not even really a complaint, just the letting you know part. And now to the greatness, The performance. First off they give you 3 audio options. Stereo, 5.1 Surround, and DTS. Also the chain has been broken of them playing older tunes which really makes this DVD special as it has some of the older tunes sounding even better than they did on the original cd. It's only a 9 song set but if you're familiar with Opeth you know why that is and it is a great set. Under the Weeping Moon and Night and the Silent Water have never sounded better. The picture is so clean it looks almost hi def. Also this might be the best mixed DVD I've ever heard. No instrument is too low or too loud. It's simply perfect, as is the performance by the band. Every song is played flawlessly and it's good fairwell to Peter Lindgren who will be missed even though his replacement is great also. Anyways, fans and any fan of great metal should pick this up. This is an amazing band and an amazing performance. While Lamentations was a great DVD this one edges it out due to a better setlist and amazing visual and audio quality. Highly recommended.
Good, but not good enough November 3, 2008 6 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am watching several clips from the show. It is good, but not good enough, I might say even somewhat of a letdown.br /Likes: 1. The music (of course....) 2. Mike's jokes. 3. Per's headbanging. 4. Peter guitar playing.br /Dislikes: 1. Camera shifts, a lot of them! Most of the time the camera shifts from one band member to another, from one point of view to another, and I can't concentrate on anything! Very annoying (this alone gave me second thoughts on actually buying the DVD...) 2. The Camden has these long and wide poles, which block the view in several occasions. Not good.br /All in all, it is a good DVD, it is clear that a lot of effort has been put into it, but I am still heavily considering about buying it.
